Dirt, Alligators, and Other Vacation Adventures

I’m sharing these pictures on a cool,  cloudy day – the perfect kind of vacation day for curling up with a book or having a nap! I actually did both. 🙂

The girls think it’s still the perfect kind of a day for a swim, but I’m not convinced….

We’ve had some really beautiful days so far:

We’ve done some exploring, and we’ve also visited a few tourist attractions, like the Orlando Eye.

We also made it through a wet day of Disney – it wasn’t supposed to start raining until after supper, but apparently that forecast was a bit wrong. The day started out great, but it turned rainy by lunch.

Our kids did really well with being wet and soggy for hours, though!

Vacation confession: We’ve had a fun time so far, but I could easily pass up the overpriced tourist attractions, and just stick to the fun little adventures and finding pretty places to explore .

Simple pleasures, I tell you – Everett played in the dirt for half an hour yesterday! And the girls didn’t want to leave my parents’ house for a moment, partly because they wanted to stay by the window to see if the alligator in the lake would catch a duck and gobble it up right in front of them, and partly because Kaylia was terrified that it would come out of the lake and chase her down the street. We had a little talk about the length of alligators’ legs, and staying away from the edge of the water.

I predict many more dirt-playing, alligator-watching adventures in the week to come!
