The Last Days of Summer

I’m guessing everyone else out there is feeling like summer is rushing rapidly toward the end.

I always have such mixed feelings about the long weekend in September. It’s like the last big bash of the summer, before we all settle back into routine, which would be kind of sad, if we weren’t all craving routine so much.

My intention is to give’er. Cram in all that summer goodness as much as possible, until we’re ready to move on toward fall.

Although I have tons of pictures and summer adventures to share, that still feels too much like an “End of Summer” activity. Right now, I still want to make a few more memories before we go into recap mode.

We’ll recap later. Right now, we’ll hang on tight, and pretend the warmth and sun and lazy days will keep going for a long time to come.

How do you do that exactly? Well, yesterday we did it by going to Lower Fort Garry with Ben’s parents. The weather was beautiful, the place was begging to be explored, and there was just something fun about taking a day off in the middle of the week for all of us to spend time together.

I don’t remember going there as a kid, but Ben does, and we’ve talked about going there as a family for years.

So glad we finally did!

And after we were all hot, tired, and done in for the day, we went to Ben’s parents’ house, where we made supper and tried to use as many kinds of fresh vegetables as possible! (Purple peppers, what?? I’m loving summer food!)

Now it’s time for me to go get ready for some more adventures this weekend.

What are you doing to make the most of summer while it lasts? (I’m needing some great ideas!)
